Meggitt SensingSystems, a Meggitt group division and leader in sensing and monitoringsystems for extreme environments, has announced the global market launch of theEndevco® model 727, an extremely lightweight piezoresistiveaccelerometer designed for accurate shock measurement during drop testing ofconsumer electronic devices, among other shock and impact testing environments. Available in four ranges (2,000g,6,000g, 20,000g and 60,000g), the model 727 can measure shocks in g ranges wellabove current drop test sensors.
TheEndevco®model 727 offers exceptional frequency response, from DC to 10kHz forthe 2kg range and up to DC to 100kHz for the 60kg range, to capture the entirefrequency range of interest. In addition, it has been tested and rated tosurvive shocks up to 1.5 times its range. At only 0.3 grams for theaccelerometer body and 1.1 grams per foot for the integral 10-foot cable, massloading to the test object is minimal. Its 0.28-inch diameter, anodizedaluminum package is designed for adhesive mounting. The standard unit comeswith an A2LA-certified calibration taken at 10 volts (other input voltagesshould be specified at time of order).
The Endevco® model 42894 removal tool isincluded with each unit. Recommended signal conditioning for use with the model727 includes the model 126 three-channel DC bridge amplifier, the model 136 three-channelsignal conditioner and the model 436 DC differential voltage amplifier.
Allsensing elements are manufactured in-house at Meggitt’s ISO9001-certified MEMSfacility in Sunnyvale, California, USA. In addition, the Endevco®model 727 iscovered by a five-year comprehensive product warranty.
